Broker Responsibility Course (2023-2024)

Upcoming Expiration Notice: The online/correspondence version of this course is scheduled to expire or be replaced by a new version after December 31, 2024. Online students who have not completed the course at that time will be automatically dropped. These students will have the option to move to the new version or switch to an equivalent course at no additional cost (additional fees related to materials may apply). If you wish to discuss your options with a Counselor, please contact one of our campuses at your convenience.
Please Note: Per TREC rules, students must pass the homework in order to progress in this course and access the scenario based questions and Exam. In addition, students have 2 attempts to pass the course exam with a 70% or better. If the exam is failed twice, the course must be retaken in its entirety.
Who Must Take This Course? Section 535.2 of the TREC Rules requires a broker who sponsors Sales Agents, a designated broker of a business entity, and a licensee who is a delegated supervisor of one or more licensees (for 6 months or more during the supervisor's current license period), to complete this 6-hour broker responsibility course to renew a license. Any licensee may take this course, which counts for six hours of CE elective credit. Additionally, a sponsoring broker may, by policy, require certain licensees and employees to take this course.

Texas Real Estate License SAE Requirements and Updates
TREC 2016 Requirement Update - As of January 1, 2016, TREC now requires all licensed salespersons to complete 8-Hours of Legal Update credit with every renewal. This rule applies whether you are completing SAE for your first license renewal or CE credit for any subsequent renewal. As a result, the required 90-hours of SAE has been increased to 98-hours and the CE requirement has been increased to 18-hours.
Do NOT repeat the same course within the same 2 year period - Every course you take has a 4-digit course number (Example: Real Estate Marketing is 0511). You cannot repeat a course with the same course number within a 2-year period. Please make sure that you check your TREC profile with the courses you would like to take for SAE to avoid duplicating a course.
