Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR)
Designation

The Accredited Buyer's Representative® designation is the highest credential in buyer representation awarded by the National Association of REALTORS®. In the required coursework, you'll learn how to help aspiring homeowners with every step of the process, define your value to clients as a buyer's representative, hold buyer counseling sessions, build trust with new clients, and formulate competitive offers. The ABR designation will improve your marketability as a buyer's agent and indicate your expertise to potential clients.

How To Earn an ABR Designation

Follow the steps below to earn an Accredited Buyer's Representative designation.

Step 1: Complete the ABR course

The two-day, 15-hour Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR) course can be completed in the virtual classroom at Champions School of Real Estate. After you complete the course, you will have 3 years to complete the remaining requirements.

Step 2: Complete an elective course

The elective course must be ABR-approved and worth at least 8 credit hours. Most electives may also be used for CE credit. All elective-eligible courses are included in the 'ABR Elective Courses' section below.

Step 3: Finalize at least 5 transactions

You must complete at least 5 transactions as a buyer's representative (no dual agency). This may include up to 2 leases.

Step 4: Maintain active status

Remain in good standing with the Real Estate 's Agent Council (REBAC) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Annual dues $110 starting in the 2nd year (this fee is waived for the first year).

The NAR membership fee is $156 per agent. This fee is billed through your local REALTOR® association. Learn more
