Required Loan Originator Courses
Each of the courses listed below are required by the NMLS in order to attain a Texas Loan Originator License. All of the courses are also available at a discounted rate when purchased together in one of the PE programs listed above.
Mortgage Loan Originator SAFE Comprehensive (16-Hours)
16 Credit Hours (NMLS)A comprehensive introduction to mortgage lending principles and practices.
This course will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to mortgage lending principles and practices that will help prepare you to become a capable and qualified mortgage professional.
This course covers topics required by the SAFE Act: Federal lending legislation (3 hrs), ethics (3 hrs), and nontraditional mortgage products (2 hrs). Also included are 8 hours of electives on key concepts, including financial disclosure, privacy protection, consumer I.D., and predatory lending protection laws; government loan programs; and the SAFE Act.

This course provides four (4) hours of mandatory Arizona law and rules, essential for your development and advancement as a residential mortgage loan originator. Topics covered include state: Arizona Department of Financial Institutions, Arizona Fee Assessment and Disposition, Key State Law Definitions, Encumbrances and Liens, National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, License Issuance Requirements and Exemptions, License Renewal and Maintenance Requirements, License Denial, Suspension and Revocation, Licensee Business Requirements, Prohibited Conduct: Mortgage Loan Originators, Prohibited Conduct: Mortgage Brokers and Bankers, and Disciplinary Actions for Non-Compliant Conduct. This course contains case studies that allow you to apply concepts and facts that you’re learning to real-life situations. You will be asked to share your analysis and insights with your instructor and your cohorts in your class.

These courses are delivered through a third-party completely online without the use of any textbooks. Course material is presented in online modules along with multiple choice quizzes and exams. Students must be able to access the internet to take this course format. This method is ideal for people who need to attend remotely but still prefer a guided learning experience.
