Recruiting Tips for Managers

Recruiting Tips for New Agent Success

  • Don't talk negatively about other companies.
  • Don't discuss other company's compensation policies.
  • Use your benefits to your advantage.
Educate agents about the cost and value of their benefits so they appreciate how well you are looking out for their needs. Make a list of all the benefits your company has to offer so the agent can walk away with a better understanding of why choose your company.
  • Hire the smartest person(s) you can find.
If you're looking for someone who will work well with other agents and clients, you need to hire an individual who has the talent of working well with people. Hire for strengths; it is more difficult to develop weak areas of talents. Use good interviewing questions and personality tests to get a profile of the person you are going to develop. Build on what is great about your new agent.
  • Use your web site for recruiting new people.
Do create an employment section which describes your available need for new agents. This site should contain information about you and why an interested person might want to contact your company.
  • Check references.
You need to check carefully and do background checks. You need to pursue every avenue to assure that the people you hire can do the job, contribute to your growth and development. You are checking to see there are no past transgressions which might endanger your company's reputation or increase the chances for a lawsuit involving this person in the future.
  • Each organization has to start somewhere to improve recruiting, hiring, and retention of valued people.
The tactics and opportunities stated here are just a beginning outline for helping your company succeed, grow and meet both your needs and the needs of potential clients.
