- 3000 hours appraisal experience is required over a 30-month period, of which no more than 1500 can be Residential and at least 1500 must be Commercial.
Continuing Education Requirements
General Certified, Residential Certified, State Licensed, and Provisional Licensed real estate appraisers are required to complete a total of:
- 28 hours of ACE which must include
- 7 hours of approved USPAP for each two-year renewal
- Courses must be completed during the two-year period of the license or certification being renewed.

State Requirements Questions
What are the Continuing Education requirements?
General Certified, Residential Certified, State Licensed, and Provisional Licensed real estate appraisers are required to complete a total of 28 hours of Appraisal CE (ACE), which must include 7 hours of approved USPAP, for each two-year renewal. Courses must be completed during the two-year period of the license or certification being renewed. Courses do not carry forward to future renewals.
The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires 15 hours of real estate MCE for each two-year renewal, which must include the TREC approved 3-hour Legal Update and 3-hour TREC Ethics course.
Are there any specific courses required?

Are the courses approved for credit?
Yes, all of our courses are approved for credit.
What is the cost of the course(s) and what methods of payment are accepted?
The cost of each course is located in the course catalog. You may pay using all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).
What is your refund policy?
Once a student purchases a course, no refunds or credits will be given.
How do I get a username and password? What do I use it for? What should I do if I forget it?
During the registration process, you select your own username and password. It should be something that you can easily remember. You will use the same username and password each time you log in to access your course(s). This information is entered in the returning students section on the home page of the website. If you forget your username and password, you can either email email@example.com or call 1-866-455-3278.
Can I take the course from various locations and computers?
Our courses are set up for students to access their courses from any computer that is compatible.
How does a course work?
You take the course at your own pace and on your own time. You can take the course in small increments or all at once. If you exit out of the course, then log back in at a later time, you start back on the page that you had been taking.
How long will it take me to complete a course?
Each course has been approved for a specific number of hours. Depending on the pace you review the course, it may take you less or more time to complete the course.
How long do I have access to the course?
You have access to the course for up to 6 months from purchase.
Can I use the course for review when I'm done?
Yes. You can simply log into your account to access the course.
Can I print any of the course material for future reference?
No. The course is entirely online, so you are unable to print any course materials.

Course Completion Questions
What is required to complete the course?
You need to review all of the course content. Please note: If you are taking a course for appraisal and real estate CE credit, you will need to take a final exam.
How do I receive my course completion certificate?
At the end of the course, you are able to print your certificate to keep for your records.
Please note: If you are taking a course for appraisal and real estate CE credit, TREC requires a final exam at the end of a course. Once the final exam is passed, please print a copy of your appraisal course completion certificate and the TREC Mandatory Continuing Education form. To receive real estate credit for the course, you must fax the completed Mandatory Continuing Education form to Champions School of Real Estate at fax: 1-800-979-1399. Champions will submit your completed form to TREC.
How do I receive CE credit?
The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board adopted rules and procedures to facilitate online renewals through TexasOnline. As part of the process, a verification of claimed appraiser continuing education (ACE) is required. Unless selected for ACE verification, however, it will not be necessary to provide course completion certificates with the renewal submissions.
A sampling of licensees who are renewing will be selected to provide "copies of all transcripts or course certificates or continuing education forms issued by educational providers" for ACE claimed and listed. Other information also may be required if "determined to be appropriate by the board."
Once the final exam is passed, please print a copy of your appraisal course completion certificate and the TREC Mandatory Continuing Education form. To receive real estate credit for the course, you must fax the completed Mandatory Continuing Education form to Champions School of Real Estate at fax: 1-800-979-1399. Champions will submit your completed form to TREC.
System Requirements Questions
Do I need to use a PC to take the online course? What if I have a Macintosh?
Hondros Learning courses are developed to run on IBM PC Compatible Computers. While we currently do not support the Macintosh platform, we have knowledge of MAC users who have had success using Firefox as their browser. For additional support with the PC platform, please contact our Technical Support department at 1-866-455-3278.
Can I take this course with the AOL browser?
No, you cannot. We suggest that you use another browser while signed on with AOL. To do this, log in to AOL and minimize the program. While still connected to the internet, click on the START button in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Click PROGRAMS, then click INTERNET EXPLORER, the program icon will have a blue "e".
Do I need to have sound on my computer to take these classes?
While sound is another feature of our courses, it is not necessary for a customer to have sound in order to learn the course material or complete the course. All information played in audio is also displayed in text by the course player.
