4 Steps to become an Austin Energy Certified Auditor

Step 1. Complete the Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst course. This 36-hour course provides all the information necessary to prepare you to take the online examination and is approved by Austin Energy as curriculum for the Austin Energy Conservation Auditor program. The Champions BPI Building Analyst Certificate course is designed specifically for the unique climate needs of Central Texas and is taught by professionals who have expertise in the home inspection process.

Step 2. Take the 2-hour proctored online examination (delivered at the end of the class on the 4th day).

Step 3. Attend a one-on-one field exam with one of our field proctors. Students will utilize actual equipment when taking this field exam.

Step 4. Once you have successfully completed the BPI course, proctored online exam and field exam, and received your approval from BPI, you are ready to submit your information to Austin Energy for their review and approval and attend the Austin Energy Audit Orientation Session. Once approved, they will add your contact information to the Austin Energy approved auditor's website.
